The season is underway and we started with our annual visit to the Virginia Renfaire. With the economy and gas prices being what they are, we never made it to the NC Renfaire in Raleigh. Many faires are struggling this year to break even because people cannot afford the drive much less the day out with other reveling folk.

Thankfully the Virginia faire isn't too far from home and it was nice to get out for the day. Sir Aidan's favorite part of the day was to sit with the Royal hounds as they were resting in the shade. He was slightly reluctant to pet them, but as usually he warmed up to them fairly quickly.

And what would a faire be if he didn't get a new henna tattoo.

He did a fairly good job chatting up the young maiden who decorated his arm. He even asked for her name. Something he hasn't done too much in the past when he's trying to make time with the ladies.

Her name is Janet and she was a very kind and marvelous artist. So he was quite happy with this years tattoo. Though it was small and simple, it was exactly what he asked for.

We spent the day listening to the pirate bands at the pub. We walked through the village and found a few trinkets to remember the day by. I purchased an early birthday present for myself. A very delicate and pretty Fairy wand. Now if I can just get it's magik to work on that lottery ticket.
